What is the Podcast About?

The Forge: A Genesys RPG Podcast is all about the amazing options the Genesys Role Playing Game (RPG) presents. It aims to help both Game Masters and Players build custom content and new material that will allow everyone at the gaming table to create the settings of their dreams.

On the podcast we’ll discuss the ways and means of building your own settings, help you forge new archetypes, careers, talents, skills, gear, and threats with a strong focus on the expanded and new content continually available on Fantasy Flight Games‘, Genesys Foundry.

Not sure you want to create publishable content? That’s OK. We’ve got you covered too. On the podcast we’ll take an in-depth look at the rules of the game, answer your games and rules questions, and give you some tips for running and playing in the Genesys RPG by Fantasy Flight Games.

What is Genesys?

Genesys is a role playing system designed for flexibility and adaptability, specifically tooled to work with any setting imaginable. Based upon the ever-polpular innovative Narrative Dice System, first used in Fantasy Flight Games‘ Star Wars Role Playing Game, the system is so adaptable and expansive that you can explore every popular roleplaying genre, from classic fantasy style campaigns, to modern day detective thrillers, and even to a far off sci-fi future.

The Genesys RPG doesn’t fit into any one genre of roleplaying. Instead it provides players and GMs with the means to craft their own settings and stories with unparalleled freedom. The Genesys Foundry builds on that premise with a fantastic collection of creator-owned settings, adventures, and rules.

We here at The Forge are going to help you understand what to look out for. The cool, the great, and the must haves! You can expect regular special industry guests, not only to discuss Genesys Foundry content, but the process of content creation. Additionally, you can count on us providing deep dives into the mechanics of content creation, reviews, and how to bring the settings of your dreams onto the table.

Who are the Hosts?

The main host of the show is GM Hooly, who got his start in the podcasting realm on the Order 66 Podcast. In quick succession, he began the ever-popular The Dice Pool Podcast. Wanting to spread his wings further, he developed The Forge: A Genesys RPG Podcast to highlight how the average gamer can bring their creations to the Genesys Foundry. And he should know – he is a freelancer for Fantasy Flight Games with several contributions already to his name, including the Legend of the Five Rings RPG. GM Hooly also brings over 35 years gaming experience to the show. With this gaming wisdom, he hopes to help you not only produce great content but also to enhance your games, story telling, and table management.

The second host of the show is GM Chris. Best known as a host of The Order 66 Podcast, the original podcast devoted to Star Wars Roleplaying (which has covered both WotC’s Saga Edition system and FFGs Star Wars RPG), his podcast experience is legendary and goes back in excess of 10 years. In addition to co-founding the d20Radio Network, and serving as one of the directors of GamerNationCON, Chris has over 25 years of gaming experience, and has created scores of adventures for the Star Wars RPG, and several settings for the Genesys RPG – some of which you will find in the Genesys Foundry.
